"I have a headache...not in my brain or whatever..it just hurts. yeah" -- roommate

today is such a beautiful day

holy moley.
I have not written in a while...so much for writing everyday. I've been busy up to my eyeballs. It's so ridiculous. I have no idea what I was thinking when signing up for classes. This is the week I had four projects due. Thankfully, other people are slow on Illustrator so my teacher pushed the project date on Tuesday. One less thing to worry about right now...

Anyways! -- I'll update you guys on what has been going on. I have a frisbee team!! We're the Friz-G's. Our first game was Monday last week and we lost... 7-14. But we went against the undefeated team from last year, so I say that was a pretty good first game (oh yeah, we just got the team together the day before the game and had like a one hour practice, haha). And then we had a game Monday and we won! woo hoo. Game on Thursday, wish us luck!

As far as art goes...man.
so.
much.

3D. I made the ugliest thing ever ------ Seriously.
This thing looked so awesome in my head and when translated from brain- to hands-to styrofoam, glass, rocks, wire....well...here. I'll just let you see the disaster.

Yes, I took a quick, blurry picture on purpose. 'What is it?', you may be asking. It is whatever you want it to be.....or to some people....it might be water.............but that's just some people.........yeah....but according to charlie it looks like a blue twinkie.

I had to make the decision to take that whole part off and just use the base of it (not shown) and that will be my project.

Now, I'm not thrilled with the end product, but it looks much, much...much better than putting that piece of -- water....on top of it.

Here's the end product.

I got some very interesting critiques. First thing said was "it looks like a cake". Alright, sweet. I like cake. Cake is good. Who hates cake? Then I got the comment "It looks like fire". I can see that...blues, reds....rocks, campfire? (NOTE: this is suppose to be IN THE ROUND sculpture. I horribly failed that part. She saw it from the side and the lead totally looked like fire). Then I got "it looks like a volcano". Wow, these were just getting better and better. Basically I made a fiery volcanic cake. Which is pretty awesome, but not what I had in mind.

The main structure is styrofoam and i covered the sides with black river rocks. The top is covered with those iridescent glass marbles you use in vases with fake flowers...I just smashed those up with a hammer and there's some pieces of mirror too. The leaf is made out of wire and I used acrylic paint on it.

After turning in that disaster I was running around trying to take picture for my Digital Photography class..I completely forgot about homework. So I had about 20 minutes to take "abstract" photos and then I brought it to class, with my computer, a blank CD and ready to burn that baby on it. But...............no. It's due wednesday. Which is good because I want to take better pictures and photoshop them better. Here's a few pictures I took...guess what they are! (I had a fun time with the girl next to me, she tried to guess every picture and got one right).

Okay maybe this one is easy.

This is pretty easy too i guess.

Maybe this one isn't that hard either...why couldn't the girl figure these out?

Okay I think this is the hardest one

The 2D project (hitler-storm trooper) was due today....but....yeah. It's a long story. I will tell that on Thursday when I turn it in and don't have to look at it anymore. I really will try harder to write more. It's just now I have frisbee on top of crazy projects and I basically don't have a life. So it's hard to write about nothing or write when I have no time to write.

woooo hooo! first grade back...and it's a 95! 2 points off because I should have taken some stuff out rather than keep adding...and 3 points off because I didn't participate in the critique. Which is a LIE! I said my good solid, constructive, single comment about a particular piece. BUT, since I got a 95, I won't complain. Plus, I should have said more than ONE thing, hahah. Oh welllll.

VMA's....what the heck....

Okay so I usually don't freak out/always watch award shows...but I decided to go ahead and put it on last night. I'm so glad I did (or else I'd be completely lost at all the gossip for today).
#1. I can't believe what Kanye did....I love his music and everything and I'm not exactly Taylor Swifts biggest fan, but that was so rude and I felt really bad for her.
#2. Lady Gaga....what the heck. I don't understand how profusely bleeding on stage and then "dying" at the end was necessary. It was just weird.
#3. Russell Brand was (is) funny
#4. New Moon trailer...woo hoo!...i already saw it like 20 times before last night but still. Looks awesome on the T.V. screen and not my computer.
#5. Lady Gaga........what the heck. First the performance...I was going to let that slide (not really) and now you do twenty outfit changes throughout the show? Crazy lace face mask and eskimo porcupine fur around your face...i don't even know.

Enough about VMA's....So much for keeping up with this blog everyday HAHA. This weekend I was soooooo busy with relaxing I just couldn't blog about it. Too much to say...sleep...t.v...movies....sleep....food....and some art projects. I did finish my shoe! wooo hoooo
okay so I wasn't THRILLED with the results but once I saw some others in class I was pretty happy. Plus, I finished it yesterday and it didn't have to be done until the end of class today so I just relaxed and started brainstorming for the big project. I thought it would be easier but it's so much harder....not really having any limits and coming up with something. Eekk..

I'm actually about to head off to art history....i don't even want to talk about this class...
but as for digital photography, I might blog about it again tonight or just save it for tomorrow. I'm going to have a late night again doing 2D and trying to do as much as I can on the lucha key...I liked it when we had a week break from projects...

take care! :)

"I was trying so hard to unlock my car door to get my purse out, and then i realized that the windows were down and i could just reach in and get it"

Woo hoo! I'm blogging.
Anyways, what better way to start off my blog than to title it with some wise words from my roommate. I love her, but sometimes she just says the funniest things and I have to post it publicly.

Today is my last day of classes and then the weekend starts for me. So I get a 3 day weekend...lucky me!? no. I was stupid enough to take FOUR studio classes! So by Thursday I am so exhausted and behind on projects and I have 3 days to work/finish 4 projects. I just completed 4 projects the other week and now I'm working on 4 new ones. I will post up pictures of the previous ones once I get a chance to take a photo when I get them back.

But here is my project (well, pre-project) from 3-D class

We have to make a shoe out of wire. Obviously I'm not done but I used up all the free wire from my Professor. I'm too lazy to go out and buy more, but at least I got the hard part down. Making that frame was a pain in the..anyways, I should have a photo up of the final product on Sunday seeing as it is due on Monday. Then I have to actually start on my real project which is creating something that represents an animal, something from nature, or human....any ideas?? :)

So...for my 2D class we have to merge two images together. I had a really difficult time coming up with something. When we were in class Tuesday she went around the classroom and we had to hold ours up and explain why we chose it/whatever. Of course half of the class would do something classic like Mona Lisa...Audrey Hepburn..or Marilyn Monroe. I was the last person to go and I hold up a picture of Hitler....with a storm trooper head. I got a good response so I'm going to stick with it. I was afraid I was going to offend some people but no one seemed to have a problem with. Hopefully I can draw it...this will be interesting.

Computer in the Art we are working with Illustrator at the moment. With wanting to be a graphic designer...I must live on this program. But...I don't exactly like it. Maybe because the teacher doesn't like me and I just associate the program with her? I really don't know if she hates my guts but she acts like it. Maybe I don't really hate Illustrator but I just act like it?? Anyways, we had to sketch an image and scan it. I chose to draw my Lucha Key (NachooooOoo!) and use that as my vector art. OKAY, it's not the greatest, but I'm really slow with this program and it's confusing to me. But this is what I have so far...I should be done by thursday of next week. There is a gap on the top right because that's where the key ring is and I haven't put the hole in yet. There's just so much I still have to do with this...

OKAY, now Digital Photography class. I reallllly enjoy this class. I wasn't signed up for it at first but my parents wanted me to have 15 hours...it was either this class or weaving. Sorry baskets, but digital photography seems more useful for my major. No offense to basket weavers, i would love to do it...but just not right now. I need to catch up first then weave later. This is a picture I tweaked the other day..I took this picture of one of my really good friends, Lauren.

WHEW, okay. that's all my classes...except Art History. Which I have no pictures of. Actually, I could probably put a picture from this class but I will save it for another blog.

That's my art day/week/whatevvv. So now you guys know what I'm working on and why my days sound (will sound) boring/repetitive. Today I had to work on my Lucha Key and Hitler Storm Trooper. I'm already exhausted just thinking about it. But for the rest of the day, I think I am going to relax and watch a good movie. Last night my roommate (Alyssa) and I watched Pretty Woman (my first time watching it!) and I LOVE it. I can't believe I've never seen it. But then again I've never seen The Wizard of Oz...Peter Pan..and many more childhood favorites.

this blog is way too long.

I'm ending this now
:)
